Released biennially by the United Nations Development Programme, the Human Development Report offers informed commentary and analysis of issues that affect humans across the world. In past years, the report has dealt with civil wars, starvation, economic growth, gender inequality, climate change, and a wide range of pressing matters. Released November [4, 2010], this 20th anniversary edition of the Human Development Report is a retrospective on the past several decades and identifies often surprising trends and patterns with important lessons for the future. The 236 -page report focuses on a new tool, Oxford's Multidimensional Poverty Index (MPI), a new measure designed to capture the severe deprivations that people face at the same time.
